Year 7/8 Jr. NBA win one, lose one in round robin fixtures

Tonight saw our year 7/8 Jr. NBA league team win one and lose one in the Jr. NBA round robin group fixtures at Heath Park. We came up first against Moseley Park first who previously beat us in the Wolverhampton league in the last shot of the game. Sadly, after being in the match for most of it, we lost 11-6. A few lessons to be learnt such as sticking tight to our opponent and our positioning when we lost the ball. We were slow out the blocks and Moseley Park made us pay for that, some fantastic long-range efforts from Mebest and Max to ensure we kept the pressure on but in the last 3 minutes we began to tire which sadly allowed Moseley Park to take advantage of some costly mistakes.

In our second match, we were up against Heath Park – a team we played a week prior. The group fought hard to come away with a 15-6 victory. Some fantastic lay-ups and counter attacking play from Hargurleen and some smooth close-range finishes from Evanas. Heath Park played some great counter attacking play which we need to learn how to defend against. A lot of things to take away and learn but the group showed great spirit to keep fighting till the end.

Some debuts for Noah and Evanas, after their hard work in KS3 basketball club practice, who showed great effort during their time on the court tonight.

Next week we are up against Moreton in the Wolverhampton league, and the group can build on their efforts so far and keep progressing!
