St Matthias v OSWBA
Tonight, our girls played their second round of fixtures in the OSWBA girls football tournament.
First game, we fought hard against a very good side. We had numerous chances to win but sadly from a late corner we conceded losing 1-0.
Second game, we again had numerous chances to win but couldn't convert. I thought we'd done it near the end, but Treasure hit it slightly wide! We came away with a draw. Lilly almost scored as well!
Last game, we dominated the game with explosive powerful runs from Elexus and Amber. Late into the game Treasure broke away from her defender to finish the chance to come away with a 1-0 win!
So, after last week’s wash out we have played 4 games won 2, drawn 1 lost 1 leaving us on 7 pts. Great start to the season!
St Matthias in the 3 x 3 tournament
Year 11 participated in the Wolverhampton city 3v3 tournament held at St Peter's. It was a tournament which involved pupils from Y11, 12 and 13. I've never seen players so tall in my life! In one match Jemeres went for the tip off against another lad who didn't even jump and just flicked the ball, insane! Our lads fought there hardest in every game but sadly didn't make the semi-finals. Proud of them for their resilience and grit to work hard regardless of some very very good opposition.
St Matthias v SWBA
Year 8 had the first round of the Wolverhampton city cup at home against SWBA and won 4-1. Two goals apiece from Jeldi and Isaac. The team fought hard to get the win, only having 11 players due to injuries. Thanks to Mr Small for running the match 🙌🏻👏
A star in the making!
Heaydien had a Wolverhampton district trial on Monday. The coaches were very impressed with her football skills and they have invited her to train and play in some matches. She needs to continue to work hard and then who knows… the world is her oyster! She has had two teams ask for her to play for them so hopefully we will have our own lioness one day winning a World Cup 👏🏴⚽️
