Project GIVE Wolverhampton

This week in school students in year 7 met Lucy from project GIVE. Project GIVE is a charity that aims to reduce and hopefully eradicate period poverty in Wolverhampton City. They donate sanitary items to schools so that no young person misses a single lesson because they have their period. As well as explaining about the work of the project Lucy also spoke with the students about positive body image, the menstrual cycle and self care. The sessions were a great success with students who took part feeling well informed and more confident:

‘I feel like the boys have got to understand this issue better’

Rayne

‘I have understood more because this is a practical session’

Paige

‘It’s important that boys learn about this too so they don’t joke about it’

Ryan

‘If boys weren’t in this session then they might not understand and make girls feel uncomfortable’

Jessica
