Welcome to St Matthias

Dear Year 11 Parent, Prospects the company who collect destinations information for the Local Authority want to send your child a short survey to fill in regarding their college / sixth form plans and to request contact details so that they can confirm accepted places in September and monitor progression. This survey will be completed in school during the summer term. If you do not wish for your child to participate in this survey, please contact the school office to opt out.
A powerful way to keep your child learning is through reading. Here is a link to a virtual school library in partnership with the National Literacy Trust Virtual School Library | Oak Academy (thenational.academy). Each week a popular children’s author will provide a free book, exclusive videos and their top three recommended reads.
Each week, teaching staff at St. Matthias think really hard about which learners have impressed them. Outstanding learning is rewarded with a very special 'Learner of the Week' nomination. This is proudly displayed here on our web site and on the boards around our school. Learners of the week also receive 5 commendations.
Learner of the week is an opportunity for our school to recognise and reward those students who are displaying academic excellence and demonstrating full engagement with their studies. Congratulations to all of those students who receive nominations, you represent a St. Matthias Student at it’s very best!
Our school works to improve the lives of individuals and families in our community.
To do this we will help each young person develop knowledge and understanding, a positive attitude to themselves and others and the skills to help them enjoy a successful life.
Our approach should always be respectful and kind as we challenge ourselves to be better teachers, parents, students and members of our community.
