As part of their PSHE programme students in year 7 have been exploring their employability skills. Lessons can be more engaging and more challenging when they include a range of practical skills so we put this to the test with our ‘Giraffe Challenge’. In teams our students were provided with limited resources and were challenged to solve problems, make decisions, ask questions, construct plans, evaluate ideas, organise information and create objects to demonstrate their employability skills in a really fun way. The teams who managed to create the best giraffes won prizes and at the end of the challenge students evaluated the skills they had demonstrated. The students worked incredibly well; St Matthias students demonstrated that they are up for challenges and have the ability to solve problems.
